Why everyone in the universe deserves a happily ever after…
Guest Post by Jessica E. Subject
In my 1Night Stand stories published by Decadent Publishing, I write about heroes and heroines who one normally does not see in romance novels. I write about real people (and some not-so-real) who deserve love just as much as anyone else, people who are scarred, diseased, different, those who have been told no one can love them, and now believe it. I give them their happily ever afters, because I believe there is someone out there for everyone.
In Beneath the Starry Sky, Tamara was left at the altar because her fiancé could not handle dealing with her Alopecia Areata. And Josh is a former television star with his own scars that force him behind the camera.
Celestial Seduction is a little different in that the hero, Frey, is an alien. This leaves him with all kinds of
insecurities, because while he can make himself look human, he wants a woman to accept him unconditionally. Carrie believes she will always be alone after her husband left her after she learned she would never be able to bear children.
Flavia, living on a space station, yearns to return to Earth, and find love in Unknown Futures. Jewel is convinced no one on Earth could love her because of the scars left on her face after her prom date splashed acid on her face when he learned she was a lesbian. When Flavia meets Jewel on the space station, she’s determined to show Jewel just how beautiful she is.
Danyka, taller and broader than most men, has a hard time finding a date. In Satin
Sheets in Space, she winds up at an 18th century costume ball where she is supposed to meet her Prince Charming. Galan travels through space, ready to settle down with an Earth woman, but he needs to find someone to accept both him, and his brother.
In my upcoming 1Night Stand release, Sudden Breakaway, Paige has given up on love after signing her life away to the Space Service, and believes she can’t offer any more than one night of passion. Jared’s life changes when he leaves the Marine Corps to become the sole guardian to his niece and nephew, who leave him with no time for a social life.
And in Another Night, Another Planet, my work-in-progress, Ava comes from a low class family, unable to afford to further her education. Stuck in dead-end jobs, she catches a break, finding a housekeeping position on the Mother Traveler. She is left with little time to date on Earth, and any guests on the ship who show an interest are quick to toss her out as soon as she puts out. Nate is a space cowboy, travelling the universe without a planet to call home. No one wanted him as a baby, and with his mixed ancestry, no species will claim him as their own.
In all of these stories, the characters are wary of giving their hearts to anyone, some already burned by love, and others vulnerable because they are different. But I believe they deserve their happily ever afters, no matter what struggles they must experience to get there.
Sudden Breakaway Blurb
Dressed in her black designer suit, Paige Brown recruits men and women for the Space Service. After the end of her marriage, and several failed recruiting missions, she yearns to find a way out of her lifelong contract to live a normal life. To find love again.
Jared Barnes’s life had been flipped upside down by two little kids. When his former Commander’s wife shows up to give him a reprieve, he jumps at the chance for a break, and to visit his former squad. But it is not his buddies he meets in the private suite at the hockey game, instead a woman who has been the star of all of his recent fantasies.

Wow, you have some amazing stories! Definitely something different! I know I love checking them out in Six Sentence Sunday. Glad I stopped in to learn more!
Ceri, Jessica absolutely has some amazing stories and the way she writes them is absolutely wonderful. I love getting lost in the pages of her books and it is always a little disappointing to have to come back down to earth.
Thank you so much, Ceri! I loke to be different.
I love that your heroines are looking for love, even when they’ve convinced themselves it’s just not in the cards for them.
Lynn, I know exactly what you mean. Makes me wish there was a Madame Ever for divorced older women like me. Why should all these pretty young things get all the fun.
In my opinion, it’s when you’re hoping but not “looking” that true love finds you.
Thanks Lynn!
Read one of those so far and now see I will have to work my way through the rest of the list. They all sound so fascinating! Best wishes with the new release!
Taryn, Which one did you read? I would love to talk with you about it. I have been fortunate and have reviewed almost all of Jessica’s work. I have loved every story she has written and even though they are all technically novellas they never felt that way, they always moved along perfectly, had wonderful characters and never felt like they were rushing toward the end. Her books are just a joy to read.
Oh, Tracy, you are just so sweet. I’m really glad you enjoy my stories.
Thank you so much, Taryn!
I love the whole review above. I have learned many interesting facts. I am a lot older than 18. Thank you for the great insight.
Denise, Isn’t it amazing how Jessica finds these women (and men by the way) who have given up on love and gives them their happily ever after? In Jessica’s books the men have given up on finding that “someone special” just as much as the women have and are just as thrilled to finally have someone they can fully love.
I am very glad that you enjoyed my post. Thank you, Denise!
I want to ask [of course] where you get all your ideas from – real life or a vivid imagination [or both?]
Maddy, i have to admit the same question has crossed my mind occasionally. I mean, how do you research a topic like erotica?
Maddy, it’s a bit of both. Life does have a way of inspiring me. And while most of these stories are pure imagination, there is a hint of my own experiences or those of someone I know in each.
Thank you very much, Tracy for inviting me to be a part of your Sizzling Women of Summer event!
Thanks for sharing, I love your books Jessica! And yes, I’m over 18

Emily, Thanks for coming by. Jessica turns everyone who reads her books into a fan. I know in my case I am as much a fan as I am a reviewer.
Thanks Tracy! Your support means so much to me.
Thank you Emily! I’m so glad you enjoy the stories I write.
Like the saying goes, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS AROUND THE NEXT CORNER. Congratulations on the new release, am sure that it will be a great success.
Ann, So many wonderful things have happened for Jessica and you’re right. who knows what’s around the next corner for Jessica? It could be truly wonderful.
Very true, Ann. Thank you so much!
I love that your hero is such a stand up guy! Thanks for the chance to win a copy of your book, I am sadly way past 18 lol, mawmom at gmail dot com
Actually I think all of Jessica’s heroes are stand-up guys, except when the hero is a girl of course, lol. Glad you made it in time. Drawing will be held after 11:59 pm EDT Sunday night.
Yes, I try to write all of them as stand up guys, at least by the end of the story. Sometimes they need a good woman to open their eyes first. But Jared is a true hero right from the beginning of the story.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and to Tracy for inviting me to be a part of this event!
The winner of one of my previous 1Night Stand stories is Emily W. Congratulations!
And to anyone who left their email address in the body of their message, I will be in contact with you soon regarding swag.
